Faucon-de-Barcelonnette, also called Rigomagus in Gallo-Roman times, is said to be the oldest village in the Ubaye valley, and perhaps even thevalley’s former capital during the Roman Empire.

But that’s not all: there’s also a 1,147-metre climb from the village to the summit of the Col de la Cayolle, the favorite pass of Romain Marceau, the project’s founder. A symbolic and personal way of combining history, geography and passion in a single name.
